The Redding area has seen growth in new companies as well as the expansion of existing companies. In the manufacturing sector, expansions include Captive Aire from North Carolina and Southern Aluminum Finishing from Georgia.  Both of these metal products manufacturing and distribution companies were looking for a strategic West Coast location to serve their western states customers.

In the office administrative category, Redding also has turned out to be an excellent location for expanding insurance companies.  Blue Shield of California and State Compensation Insurance Fund both have built new large office complexes that will allow them to further expand their customer service and claims processing services for California and the region.

BEST FITS FOR THE STILLWATER BUSINESS PARK

Stillwater's Planned Development Plan allows for Heavy Industrial, General Industrial and office uses.  A Target Industry Study completed for the park suggests that precision metal and plastic products such as medical devices would be excellent fits, as well as clusters of industries in advanced manufacturing, food processing and back office administrative.

In each of the target industry cases, Redding and Shasta County have the labor supply, utilities and logistics to support the needs of companies in these sectors.

Redding is also seeing an emergence of technology companies in the market and is creating a niche for those companies seeking a lower cost, but extremely livable area, to attract professionals and compete successfully in the global market.
